Mission Statement
PATH’s mission is to improve population health by conducting and promoting evidence-based evaluations of the effectiveness and efficiency of new and existing health care technologies.
In pursuit of this mission, we:
- synthesize information about the effectiveness and efficiency of health care technologies
- conduct original research into the costs, effects, benefits and utilities, of health care technologies, using advanced decision analysis and modeling techniques, with a focus on the analysis of uncertainty
- develop new methods for health technology assessment
- design and carry out special "field evaluations" to fill gaps in important information about health care technologies and their diffusion
- provide advice and consultation to clinical, managerial and public policy decision makers about the funding and utilization of health care technologies
- disseminate knowledge about health technology assessments
- teach undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate and post-professional students methods for health technology assessment
- develop and conduct leading-edge courses and workshops for evaluation of health care technologies
