Feng is an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, McMaster University. Dr. Xie’s primary interests include health technology assessment (HTA), methods in economic evaluations in health care (economic modeling and clinical trial-based economic evaluation), health related quality of life and health utility measures. He is the Faculty Director of Health Technology Assessment Program (HTAP) in the PATH Research Institute. HTAP is the only academic centre of excellence in collaboration with the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) in conducting HTAs to support national policy makings. Dr. Xie is leading several HTAs with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) to support reimbursement decision makings in Ontario. Dr. Xie is an Associate Editor of the BMC Journal: Health and Quality of Life Outcomes and a member of the editorial board of Medical Decision Making, Journal of Pain Research and Journal of Inflammation Research. He is a member of Expert Reviewer Panel in the National Coordinating Centre for Health Technology Assessment (NCCHTA) and an external reviewer for the National Institute for Health Research HTA Programme Clinical Evaluations and Trials in the United Kindom. Dr. Xie is also a Pharmacoeconomics Expert Reviewer for MOHLTC. He has over 50 publications on peer-reviewed medical and HTA journals. Dr. Xie’s teaching activities in the Health Research Methodology Graduate Program at McMaster University include economic evaluation in health care, advanced economic modelling, statistical and methodological issues in randomized clinical trials. He is also lecturing/tutoring in the annual international workshop on HTA hosted by McMaster University and advanced economic modelling workshop jointly hosted by McMaster University, University of York, and University of Glasgow. Dr. Xie led a half-day short course on health utility measurement in the 2010 Society for Medical Decision Making annual meeting in Toronto.
