HEALTH TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT: FROM THEORY TO EVIDENCE TO POLICY

This course is designed for participants with little to moderate knowledge of the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) process who want to learn more about the components and conduct of high quality HTA. Particular attention will be paid to the role of evidence and economic evaluation within the HTA framework. The course is suitable for a wide range of participants from academic, public or private sectors. Over the 4 days, participants will be involved in a practical hands-on workshop teaching HTA methodology.

ADVANCED MODELLING METHODS FOR HEALTH ECONOMIC EVALUATION (Please note that this workshop originally scheduled to be held July 28-30, 2010 in Thailand has been cancelled)

The course will provide an introduction to decision models including decision trees and standard Markov models. Greater sophistication will be added as building blocks including the use of survival analysis to estimate inputs for Markov models, the implementation and presentation of probabilistic analysis and the use of value of information analysis. The course involves a mixture of lectures and computer-based exercises using Microsoft Excel and TreeAge software.

MODELLING APPROACHES FOR HTA: A PRACTICAL HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

In recent years, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Decision Sciences (DS) have become increasingly important to health care policymakers. In order to keep pace with this development, the UMIT - HTADS Continuing Education Program was designed to provide excellent quality education and comprehensive training in the key issues of these disciplines for anyone involved in the health sector.  This practical hands-on workshop covers five different modelling techniques and combines lectures, discussions, case studies, and hands-on computer lab sessions.
